How do I determine what size hoist I need for my boat?

Hoists are rated by weight capacity. To determine what size hoist you need we recommend the dry weight of your boat plus at least 500 lbs for miscellaneous items (gas, fishing gear, water toys, etc.).

What size extension cord should my boat lift have?

For any distance less than 25 feet a 12 gauge extension cord is recommended. For distances between 25 feet and 150 feet a 10 gauge extension cord is recommended. For distances over 150 feet an 8 gauge cord is recommended. You can purchase extension cords at our offices.

What is the minimum water depth a boat hoist can be installed in?

For a wave runner hoist we recommend a minimum water depth of 30 inches. For a 5000 lb boat hoist we recommend a minimum water depth of 36 inches. For any hoist greater than 5000 lbs we recommend a minimum water depth of 48 inches.

What are the advantages/disadvantages to aluminum sectional dock?

There are several advantages to sectional dock. Clary Lake Service’s aluminum sectional dock is easy to keep clean and has a long life span. Aluminum sectional dock is cool to the touch on hot days and has a non-skid surface making it very safe when wet. Other advantages to aluminum sectional dock include: preventing slivers, low maintenance, and sturdy construction. The initial investment for aluminum sectional dock costs more up front than traditional plank dock, however, low maintenance and not having to replace plank pays dividends in the long run, making aluminum sectional dock a great cost effective option.

What are the advantages/disadvantages to plank dock?

There are many advantages to plank dock. Clary Lake Service’s plank dock can be configured in a variety of ways and is constructed using durable, high quality Douglas Fir lumber allowing larger boats to be tied up. Plank dock is great if you are looking for a more cost effective option, however, the cost of replacing boards and general maintenance are normally higher than aluminum sectional dock.

My boat hoist won't work. What should I do?

The first thing you should do is check to see if you have power at the outlet you are plugging your boat hoist into. You can check this by plugging in a small appliance (radio, phone charger, etc) into the outlet to see if it works. If it does not work, reset the GFI on the outlet and try again. If your boat hoist still does not operate, check the reset button on the motor of the hoist.
